As we enter September and Charli XCX officially announces the halt of Brat Summer, here is a selection of LGBTQ+ events to kick off your ‘Demure Autumn’ and get yourself off that bloody meme-filled phone and into the real world.
Pro Comedy Night at Manny Dartin
Looking for pro-comedy, good food and cocktails a mere 50m from the local train station? Of course you are. Bob on down to Manny Dartin, cafe by day and bar by night, for their monthly comedy night. Or every friday be serenaded by live music. Their pro comedy night is part of their newly launched Comedy Club - a true jack of all trades in the heart of South West London.

A place for LGBTQ+ comic and zine creators to share their published work with the world, this is set to be the perfect space to meet like minded creatives as well as indulge yourselves in the offerings of the UKs most creatively queer minds. In their first year, it’s set to be a firm favourite for the capital for sure.

Queer Climate Justice Zine Making
All you need to do is turn up to this free workshop by Forth Valley Climate Action Hub, Coin Operated Press and Stirling Student’s Union to get involved. If you’re looking to learn more about what we can do about the climate crisis, as well as connect with like minded community and get creative, then this ones for you.

In Conversation With Matt Haig - The Book Drunkard Literary Festival
To celebrate the release of his new book, The Life Impossible, Matt Haig is taking to the road. Set in Ibiza, Haig draws on his own experiences in Ibiza as well as crafting what is sure to be another monumental addition to his repertoire of touching, emotive and meaningful books. LGBTQ+ Acoustic Music Festival & Makers Market
For fans of all things unplugged, this celebration of Brighton’s queer acoustic performers is set to be a smorgasbord of unique crafts and hidden talents. Including artists such as Alex Fincher, Sekinue, Bee & Jackrabbit and many more, you’ll be sure to find music to fall in love with as well as handmade crafts, unique fashions, jewellery and zines to peruse too.

What looks set to be an incredibly unique evening, Queer Diary asks a ‘brave’ group of LGBTQ+ adults to share their real life teenage diary entries with a live audience. Expect friendly crowds, tumblr girlies (and gays) and some cringey poetry that will be the perfect throwback for those of us who used to spend hours customising our own tumblr fanfic pages. A unique event which looks set to be a beautiful night of connection.

Gwyneth Goes Skiing - Hope Mill Theatre
If you’ve not heard of this spectacular show from Awkward Productions then where have you been? Fortunately for you, Linus Karp and Joseph Martin have brought their five-star show to Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, after taking the show far and wide. You’ll be foolish not to miss this - and London fans rejoice, they’re returning to the Pleasance Theatre in December…
